What Churches Are Really For...

Faith

When asked by his co-pilot where they were, Fabien, the pilot in Antoine de Saint Exupery’s book Night Flight, answers “Can’t say exactly, we are flying by compass across a storm.” For me, this describes the role of faith in my life acutely and succinctly. While faith does not provide us with easy answers or instant gratification, it is a bearing, an orientation, that provides a direction both for the overall arc of life and for the minute decisions we must constantly make in order to follow the course we have charted.
